It all started when one of my collectors asked me to paint something fun on a piece of Samsonite luggage for his trip to Miami. The piece ended up being such a big hit that we decided to document the trip and all his adventures through the eyes of "Maleta Man" (maleta is Spanish for suitcase). I was recently commissioned to create these fun and colorful kids portraits by a man who wanted to surprise his wife with a unique birthday gift! I am really enjoying working with Dr. Pam Wiley and her LA Speech and Language Therapy Center that works with kids on the autism spectrum. Being a parent myself of a child on the spectrum, I know how important it is for early diagnosis and therapy. It makes a world of difference, unfortunately for people of color it's not always easy to find the appropriate support in our communities. Dr. Wiley is a pioneer and does great work in reaching out and offering her services to the community at large.
In an effort to help fundraising for her center, I recently created a live painting which was auctioned off at the end of the night. The event was held at Xen Lounge and was hosted by the wonderful Duane and Tisha Campbell Martin. I met so many great people that night, enjoy the pics and quick time-lapse below.

I was recently in Chicago creating a unique piece for a collector. The piece is entitled "Self Made Man" and was hand painted with aerosol onto metal and later finished with an automotive high gloss clear coat. Here's a short time lapse video of the process. Hope you like!

On April 3oth I curated a unique Lucha Libre (Mexican wrestling) inspired exhibition at Plaza de la Raza in Lincoln Heights. The event was incredible! Antonio Pelayo (Pelayo Productions) did a great job producing this event which included not only our art exhibit but also live lucha libre, film screenings by Hola Mexico Film Festival, great music by Dj Sloepoke and by El Conjunto Nueva Ola, lucha fashion show and so much more. Here's a quick video to give you a taste of what it was like that night.

I just got back from Miami where I spoke at FUSE, one of the largest design conferences in the country. I led a group of about 22 on a graffiti and street art mural tour through the colorful streets of the Wynwood Arts District. With the help from my friend and co-presenter, Mikel Cirkus, we walked around for about 3.5 hours sharing our views and insights on the art murals, graffiti culture, street art trends, and big developer agendas which have turned this once run down warehouse district into the thriving hip urban center it has become. Below are just a few pics we took. To really take it all in, put it on your to-do list next time you are in Miami!
