EL CHAVO Y LECHE

I got the opportunity to create a large canvas for one of my favorite childhood heroes, El Chavo del Ocho.  To commemorate his legacy, the California Milk Processor Board (CMPB), creator of the renowned got milk? and Toma Leche campaigns, teamed up with Televisa and Grupo Chespirito to proclaim the first El Chavo del Ocho Day at Los Angeles City Hall on September 6th.

The proclamation was declared by Councilman Gil Cedillo in City Hall. Below is a time-lapse video of the making of the artwork and also some pics of the City Hall unveiling event. Enjoy!

LA GOLONDRINA MURAL

My newest mural created for Casa La Golondrina in Downtown LA's historic Olvera Street Plaza.

The mural is a quick reflection of the history and culture of both the restaurant and the city.  In the center is the word "LA" in a simple yet contemporary urban graffiti style. The iconic City Hall building appears to the right and the bird to the left is a "golondrina" (swallow) which the restaurant is named after.  The chiles and tomatoes a nod to the savory and authentic food served there everyday.
It's all tied together by the undulating movement of the blue folkloric dress motif.

Very soon I will be making special limited edition prints available through my site and the restaurant as well. In the meantime, enjoy the pics and video below or simply stop by the eatery and check it out for yourself!

GRAFFITI SPIRIT OVER CITY HALL

Just finished this mural located on Olympic near Santa Fe in Downtown LA.
"Graffiti Spirit Over City Hall" by Man One © 2012

It's a statement on how graffiti artists have forced themselves into the City's dialogue
about what is public art and ending the mural moratorium.

The City can no longer be dismissive about our artform and it's positive impact
on community and youth culture.

My Graffiti Spirits speak to that.

Enjoy the video of the making below:
